Cawthorne 2019 – a typical Chorale programme

15/05/2019 10:32
This is what we sang to a very appreciative audience on Saturday 11th May 2019. We finished off the concert with an encore of My Lord What a Morning and then all dashed home over the Woodhead pass. We have been invited back to Cawthorne for 2021.

Autumn Concert at St Michael's, Flixton

06/11/2013 12:24
The Flixton concert didn’t have snow like last year ... but we did get thunder and lightning, which went very well with Reg’s stunning programme cover ‘Sunset and the Dark’ning Blue’. The title was taken from René Clausen’s Tonight Eternity Alone sung by the Chorale that evening. The...

Another composer in the Chorale

11/12/2017 11:17
It seems we have another composer in our midst. Tenor Justin Evans has just taken third prize in the 2017 Nantwich Carol Composition Competition with his rendition of Past Three O'Clock. The first three winning carols can be heard in the Family Carol Concert given by Nantwich Choral Society on...

Anonymous Donation

28/10/2014 15:42
During the summer, we received a very handsome gift – over £1,300 was anonymously donated to The Manchester Chorale. It was immediately put to good use by our Musical Director who used it to buy music for the choir. Jill must have spent a long time deliberating over how to spend it. She has chosen...

Aled Jones to sing with the Chorale

06/05/2015 15:36
The Chorale occasionally get to back famous people. At Christmas, we will be singing in the Bridgewater Hall with Aled Jones MBE. It won’t be the first time some of the Chorale have sung with Aled. A Songs of Praise from Gorton Monastery comes to mind. This time it’s The Glory of Christmas concert...

Adiemus and The Armed Man

22/11/2017 16:25
We are just recovering after our second concert with Sir Karl Jenkins. A 2-hour rehearsal followed by a 2-hour concert is very wearing – not so much on the voice, but on the knees. The choir gets to sing in most of the Symphonic Adiemus and The Armed Man, so are stood up for most of it. It’s not...

A wet evening at St Paul's Withington

31/07/2023 15:30
Our 2022/23 season finale was a concert of music from around the world, sung at St Paul's Withington. The weather was best described as "unseasonal", but that only added to the atmosphere and ambiance, with lightning flashes as we sang of "the scorched earth [crying] out in vain" during Frank...
